KARACHI HALWA
An Indian dessert basically made with four ingredients cornflour, sugar, ghee and water and flavored with chopped nuts.
INGREDIENTS
FOR CORNFLOUR MIXTURE:-
1 cup cornflour
2cup water
OTHER INGREDIENTS:
1.5 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 tsp lemon juice
5-6 tbsp ghee
5-6 cashews finely chopped
8-10 almonds finely chopped
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
few drops of orange food colour
RECIPE:-
Firstly in a large mixing bowl take cornflour and water.
mix well without any lumps and keep aside.
Now take non-stick pan add sugar and water
allow the syrup to boil.
Add corn flour mixture into the boiling sugar syrup.
stir continuously on low-medium flame.
once the corn flour mixture starts to thicken
immediately add a tsp of lemon juice.
also keep stirring till the mixture thickens completely.
now add a tbsp full of ghee and mix continuously till all the ghee is absorbed.
Like this in intervals add ghee and keep stirring.
add another tbsp of more ghee and continue to mix till mixture start turning transparent and silky. releasing ghee from sides.
add orange colour, cardamom powder and chopped cashews and some almonds and mix well.
later transfer the mixture to a greesed tray and level.
also sprinkle some chopped almonds and rest for an hour.
finally, cut to a desired shape and serve.
